Sacred Drum Making Workshop

from $300.00

Saturday May 25 - Sunday May 26 in Mattawa

Community Grandmother Nigik and I (grandmother’s apprentice) are excited to Host a Drum Making Workshop May 25 th  and 26 th  along the serene Ottawa River in Mattawa.

These gatherings are fundamental to our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing due the disruption of Residential Schools and intergenerational trauma. We are trying to build bridges of Reconciliation and healing of the two Nations. Spending time together in a circle creating, sharing and receiving teachings of how to walk in this world can be life altering.

Drumming is a fundamental form of connection in a circle. It can help you to ground and provide you an opportunity to bring people together.

Join us Saturday May 25th for a full day crafting your sacred drum. Guided by elders, learn the practical and spiritual significance. Enjoy a traditional lunch and ceremony.

Sunday May 26th, add final touches, including crafting the grandmother's arm (the tool used to create sound). Lunch and wisdom on gathering materials from the earth. Close with a drumming ceremony.

The attendees are encouraged to bring tobacco as an offering to the Community Grandmother Nigik, along with cloth or cloth bag for wrapping their drums for the transport home and strawberries to gift the community. Limited on-site accommodations are available for an additional charge, as well as camping options. Come join us as we drum, feast, and celebrate the rhythms of life together.

Join us again, Saturday June 15th, for a birthing ceremony for your drum. (optional)
